Sea bathing

Unspoilt nature, dream beaches, sumptuous residences and fascinating stories: with Twisto, the coastline of the Côte de Nacre is revealed to all.

Caen la mer Tourisme / Les Conteurs

This 1.5-kilometer stretch of sandy coastline, part of the Orne estuary, offers a rich variety of landscapes, along with an array of animal and plant species. It’s a unique spot best appreciated from the elevated viewpoint at the observation tower. A perfect hideaway for watching nature unfold and observing boats come and go. We recommend cycling along the greenway by the canal from Caen to Pointe du Siège.

These elegant villas stand proudly facing the sea. Take the beachside promenade to admire the villas of Hermanville-sur-Mer and Lion-sur-Mer. Inspired by the Belle Époque era, the homes stand out with their unique charm. One of the highlights is La Bleuette, designed by Hector Guimard, an iconic figure of the Art Nouveau style best known for creating the Paris metro entrances.

Between Sword Beach and Caen, you won’t want to miss the famous Pegasus Bridge and its museum, where you can retrace the steps of the Red Berets on the morning of D-Day. This was the site of the most critical mission of the British 6th Airborne Division. Across from the bridge, Café Gondrée offers a great spot to take a break and enjoy a delicious meal. We recommend the traditional homemade omelet made by Arlette, the daughter of the original owners at the time of the D-Day landings.
