Before boarding

  • All accessible stops in the network can be identified by the symbol   at bus stops.
  • For individuals with visual impairments, a remote control can be provided to activate audio information announcements. When the remote control is used, speakers outside the buses announce the line and the next stop. Inside the buses, the system repeats audio announcements, including the line, destination, current stop, and upcoming stop.
  • The remote control is issued free of charge by the Centre Communal d'Action Sociale* (CCAS) to all Caen residents holding a disability card indicating that they have a visual impairment. Non-residents can also purchase the remote at cost price.

On board buses

  • All Twisto buses now feature low floors to facilitate access for individuals with special needs.
  • Out of 228 vehicles, 161 buses are equipped with electric ramps to bridge the gap between the curb and the vehicle.
  • Each bus has designated spaces for individuals with special needs, including pregnant women, elderly passengers, and those with mobility challenges.
  • External call buttons located to the left of the central door allow passengers to request the ramp. To exit, the button is located near the reserved space for passengers with mobility challenges.
  • 10 bus routes are 100% accessible: Lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, 21 and the downtown Caen shuttle.
  • Special equipment provides travel information to facilitate passenger navigation. Some buses feature LED displays with internal and external audio announcements indicating upcoming stops and the line’s direction. Other buses are equipped with dynamic information systems on flat-screen monitors with audio announcements, allowing passengers to track the vehicle’s progress in real time. Accessible stops are clearly marked with a specific symbol.
